This was a fun and exciting week! The students continued to learn about the changes in matter. They conducted a lab experiment in class to see how matter changes from a solid to a liquid. Ask your child, "How can you change a solid into a liquid?" In addition, the observed a Rainbow Skittle activity and wrote another lab report. The reports should include a beginning, middle, and end. Ask your child what goes into each section.
They will have a unit math test on Thursday and Friday of next week. Advance students will be tested on multiplication and division strategies and computation. On level math students will be tested on subtraction with regrouping. Please have your child practice IREADY reading and math every night. This week our class dropped from 100% pass rate to 83% pass rate in reading. I was only able to award a few stickers in both areas.
Finally, the students participated in a safety lesson with Mrs. Aronowitz. They learned about strangers and what to do if they are approached by a stranger. Ask your child what should they do if they are approached by someone that uses their name, but they don't know them.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
