The students were so happy and thrilled about their Book Character Projects. The students had to create a Book Character Report about one of the book characters we read about this school year. They loved the cutting and pasting part. I even heard, "This was the best project this year." I asked them about other projects they enjoyed this year. They really loved the Bike Helmet Design. One student mentioned that the first time she did it she forgot to put the egg in the ziplock bag and the egg got all over mom's carpet. Sorry mom. I have really enjoyed this class. We are our own little family. They are so quick to help one another.
The students completed the IREADY Reading and Math Diagnostic. I've emailed most of you the reading growth reports. If I haven't emailed it to you I will soon. I was really impressed, Lucy Cibula had the largest growth in reading with over 200% progress growth. Way to go Lucy! Everyone did well. The goal is to improve. On level math students will begin Unit 6 which is their last math unit of the year. Advance math students will finish their last unit next week with a test on Grade 3 Unit 3. Again, I'm really impressed with their writing skills. I'm challenging them to write more when it comes to answering those written response questions. That seems to be a struggle for them. They finalized their opinion letters to Ms. Severson. Ask your child about the letter.
I will continue to test students one on one to determine their reading level and compare it to their IREADY reading level. Also, the students had a visit from Mrs. Aronowitz. The session was very informative and they learned what to do in uncomfortable situations.
The students ended the week with our Mystery Reader (Mrs. Shure) reading to entertaining books. Also, they loved playing Kahoot to review the economic lessons. Next week, the school (3rd-5th grades) will continue the Georgia Milestones testing. My class will have library check out on Thursday. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
