This was a great week for the kids. They ended the week with an awesome lesson on diversity and "No Place for Hate" by Ms. Aronowitz. The enjoyed talking about their unique differences. The math advanced math students took their Unit 5 test. It caused a few hiccups, but they persevered and came out on top on the retakes. They only have one more unit of 2nd grade math. Continue to work with them on addition and subtraction with regrouping. Next week they will move into arrays and multiplication.
On level math students will take their Unit 2 test on Tuesday, November 17th. The test will include addition with regrouping, word problems, money, and graphing. To support your child go back over the math assignments on Seesaw.
The students learned how to identify the main idea and supporting details of a story. They will have their reading unit test next week. This week we practiced writing the main idea and supporting details of a story, using context clues to determine the meaning of words, and identified text features in nonfiction reading. These skills will all be on the test.
Parent conferences began on Monday. I met with parents up to 7pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you missed the opportunity to sign up for a conference send me an email and I will meet with you. I'm available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday after school.
Finally, students submitted their life cycle projects and did well on them. I will be sure to send them home soon. Please make sure that students are focused and ready to learn online. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.
